Sandbox raises $2.5M, Cheeze Wizards Pre-sale Recap, MLB Gameplay, Axie League S02 Underway
The SandBox is Coming to the Blockchain
Animoca Brands (creator of F1 Delta Time) raised $2.5 million for a blockchain remake of it’s mobile game, The Sandbox. This round of funding was led by Hashed, crypto assets fund & accelerator in South Korea. Animoca is also working in partnership with Kakao, the lifestyle messenger service (~50 million users) in South Korea.
Gameplay
The original Sandbox game is a 2D pixelated world building game. The remake will leverage blockchain technology by allowing content creators to earn “Sand” tokens. Tokens can be used to reward, penalize, or create bounties for desired projects/enhancements, etc. A cool software called Voxedit allows creators to build and animate in game 3D models. Early images and media reminds us of Minecraft.
“The Sandbox offers everyone access to a new economic model where players and creators fully participate in the value creation chain and can benefit from the new paradigm where content is the platform,” - Arthur Madrid, CEO of Pixowl
